College basketball fans are buzzing with excitement over the La Salle versus San Beda exhibition game Saturday, 12 noon at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The dream match, dubbed “Champions for a Cause,” is a charity event for Supertyphoon “Yolanda” survivors.

What some students and alumni expect as they prepare to root for their teams:

“I think both teams will play hard even if it’s a charity game because both are champions. Once the players get on the court, they’ll play their hearts out because, aside from putting on a show to help Yolanda victims, their pride will be on the line. I expect it to be an exciting game and I’m looking forward to finding out who’s the better champion.” —Aldo Manzano, La Salle

“Well, I don’t follow the NCAA, but I’m pretty excited about the matchup. It’ll be nice to see how we stack up against San Beda. And the fact that it’s for a good cause just adds to it.” —John Sarao, La Salle

“I’m definitely expecting a good and defensive game coming from these two champions. I’m looking forward to seeing how Olaide Adeogun and Kyle Pascual will go up against DLSU’s twin towers, Arnold van Opstal and Norbert Torres, as well as the matchup between Jeron Teng and Rome dela Rosa.” —Cristina Revilla, La Salle

“I think the La Salle-San Beda game will be an intense match. Even if it’s for a good cause, both teams will not hold back and will definitely give a good show for fans.” —Jaime Cornista, La Salle

PATRICK Baldovino

“It’s more of playing for a cause than for mere bragging rights which will be decided in another time. But as for me, there are no losers here, just winners. When you do something for the less fortunate, you are a big winner.” —Mon Latorre, San Beda

“I have seen both teams in action. I think all of these athletes are men of honor, so I also expect to see a lot of sportsmanship on the court. Let’s give the Smart Araneta Coliseum a Christmas vibe—a sea of red and green with Bedans and La Sallians proudly singing their hymns.” —Alfonso Preysler, San Beda
