According to the RYOT website, MYF will match every dollar donated to the RYOT Foundation for the Philippine relief up to $25,000 in order to reach a target amount of $50,000. Incubus has contributed band memorabilia as reward items in exchange for donations, including posters, limited-edition shirts, and gold and platinum record plaques from Brandon Boyd’s personal collection. The band also has a special message. (www.ryot.org/ryot-incubus-team-help-philippines.)
David Guetta joins the UN’s “The World Needs More…” Campaign: Businesses have sponsored words that the world could have more of, such as “peace” or “compassion.” Each time those words are shared on social media, the sponsors donate $1 to UN relief efforts. Guetta is sponsoring the word “love,” and he will match $1 each time the word is shared. The world-renowned DJ has also produced a music video for his new track “One Voice” with Mikky Ekko, which was recently launched on the wall of the UN Secretariat Building in New York.
How to help: To unlock the dollar donation from Guetta, share the double hashtag “#theworldneedsmore #love” either on Twitter or the campaign website (www.worldhumanitarianday.org).
Justin Bieber sets up Supertyphoon “Haiyan” charity campaign: The pop superstar has just teamed up with fan awareness platform Prizeo.com in an effort to mobilize his massive fan base “to raise vital funds for the relief effort.” Proceeds will go to the relief efforts of Action Against Hunger, Unicef and Philam Foundation.
How to help: Visit the Prizeo website and choose from the different donation levels and corresponding prizes available. Options range from a $10 “Supporter” pledge for a video message from Bieber, to a $7,500 “Ultimate Belieber” donation with a reward of two VIP tickets and a meet-and-greet. All donations are automatically entered for a chance to win an exclusive studio hangout session with the pop star himself.
Steve Aoki’s Birthday for Relief campaign: Music for Relief (MFR), a non-profit charity organization founded by Linkin Park, is dedicated to providing global disaster relief aid. In celebration of his 36th birthday, EDM meister Aoki has pledged to match up to $36,000 in donations made by his fans to MFR. That’s $1,000 for each year of his life. This translates to a target goal of $72,000—all of which will go to the relief efforts of the International Medical Corps. Whoever donates or raises the most money will win a trip to Aoki’s New Year’s Eve gig in Cancun, Mexico. We also give him props for tweeting that part of the proceeds from his recent gig at the Sonic Carnival concert the SM Mall of Asia grounds will go to relief aid.
How to help: Go to Steve Aoki’s donation/fundraiser page (www.crowdrise.com/steveaoki) and click the “Donate” button. Additionally, Linkin Park and a number of other artists have also pledged to give tokens in exchange for donations.
