Survivors of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” got another much-needed boost, dahlings, when Metro Society magazine, in cooperation with LG Electronics Philippines, celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort and Casino, no less.
The jam-packed happening focused on the timeless beauty of the invitees, fashion designers and muses who were raring to help the cause.
World-renowned LG Electronics, palangga, paid tribute to Metro Society’s 10 radiant women.
“These women shone and have shown distinction in their field in the past decade. This award is derived from the global technology leader’s most premium and advanced innovation to date, the world’s first LG Curved OLED TV. Launched in the Philippines this month, the LG Curved OLED TV represents the infinite beauty and substance that these women possess,” said Hoony Bae, vice president of LG Electronics Philippines Home Entertainment Division.
Bae added that the LG Curved OLED TV breaks the limits of tradition with its seamlessly curved screen for an optimal TV viewing experience. A never-before-seen three-credit-card-slim TV blends perfectly with LG’s unique WRGB technology, which produces deeper and richer colors.
During the event, LG Electronics pledged to fully support those affected by the wrath of Yolanda. On top of their previous cash donations and installations of electricity-generating LG Solar Panels, LG announced its in-kind donations worth P400,000 to beneficiary organization Sagip Kapamilya, and will continue its LG Service Camps to aid community rehabilitation.
Now, take that well-deserved bow, dahlings!
Ginger’s Manila holiday
Perky and adorable Ginger Ong first came out in my column two years ago when she was introduced at her grand debutante ball. Since then, this young mover and shaker has been on a roll.
She married her American boyfriend, businessman Sam Libby. The couple blew into town for the holidays to be with Ginger’s parents, attractive Genie and business magnate Jovy Ong. They were feted at all sorts of welcome dinners and what-have-you’s as expected from their parents and loads of pals, palangga.
In 2011, Ginger graduated cum laude with a major in Fashion Design specializing in Bridal and Evening Wear from the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) of New York. “Guinevere,” as she is called by her famille and close pals, worked at Vera Wang during her senior year in college and went on to hold a full-time position for almost three years. Early last year, she was sought by the wedding apparel brand Pronovias to manage its Bridal Alterations Department.
To celebrate the New Year with a bang, the well-respected Ongs hosted a party at their sprawling, well-manicured Greenhills residence.
The invitees were treated to an excellently prepared dinner and live entertainment. Having a blast were the popular basketball brothers, Jeric and Jeron Teng, together with their parents, Susan and Alvin Teng and other well-known figures from the Chinese community, plus loyal supporters of my alma mater, De La Salle University, dahlings.
Sadly, Ginger and Sam’s holiday vacation was brief but, as always, it was super memorable. Isn’t it great to be young, beautiful, brilliant and definitely privileged? Di bala, palangga?
By mothers, for mothers
It had to be our women of today’s new hip set who are on a roll when it comes to coping with raising their beloved children, dahlings. Gorgeous gals Amanda Griffin-Jacob and Bianca Araneta-Elizalde, the “it” girls of yesteryears turned “it” moms this time around, went all out to make the road smoother for mothers and mothers-to-be with “Project Mom.”
“The valuable resource offers a wealth of helpful advice taken from their everyday lives, as well as a pool of dedicated experts. Covering pregnancy until baby’s first year, each page is peppered with beautiful full-color photographs of Amanda and Bianca’s precious moments with their kids,” said Celine Gabriel Lim, a close pal of the two at a two-day special happening.
The event held at Aria Cucina Italiana was hosted by top model Joey Mead and Top Shelf, Fully Booked, led by Marc Nelson and Lexi Berenguer-Testa.
Spotted at the event were Maria Dolonius of the Rebuild Malapascua initiative; Jo Dy Juanco of SM Kids’ Fashion; talented designer Rosanna Ocampo; and Fully Booked owners and publishers of “Project Mom,” Jaime and Chris Daez, Anna Dy, Pilar Tuason, Marta Araneta; and TV host and commercial model Patty Laurel.
Everyone was so excited over this one-of-a-kind gathering, dahlings, with many of the mamas getting their own copy of the book.
At the end, it was totally clear that motherhood isn’t so scary after all, with a friendly hand to hold along the way, and a fulfilled life with those who matter most: their children, natch!
Fifty percent of the book’s sales were donated to those affected by Yolanda, with a special raffle held for the residents of Malapascua who suffered from the effects of the calamity.
