Quirky watches are a quick way to dress up an outfit—and to show school spirit.
Tomato Swap Watch recently launched its limited University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) collection featuring the participating schools. School icons done in pop-art designs are printed on the watch’s face.
The Adamson University watch comes in blue with a falcon design. Ateneo de Manila University watch has a blue letter A.
The De La Salle University green watch has an illustration of an archer, while the Far Eastern University watch sports a green tamaraw design on a yellow background.
The yellow and blue National University watch shows a barking bulldog, while the red University of the East watch features a warrior design.

Thomasians can have the University of Santo Tomas watch featuring a black, gold and white growling tiger.
Each UAAP watch face is sold at P750; strap is P350. Save P200 by buying a starter kit with one watch face and two straps for P1,250.
According to brand manager Benjo Billones, over 90,000 pieces (faces and straps) of the Tomato Swap Watch have been sold since its summer launch, making it a hit especially to students. The style is simple but edgy—square face with stainless-steel back case and silicone one-piece strap in solid colors.
Among the best-selling designs are the Superguy and Wondergirl, which show cartoon superheroes. There are also catchy prints of a jeepney, Instagram stripes, kiss marks and a guitar.
For something simpler, plain watch faces are available in basic colors, pastels, brights and metallics. All styles have no numerals.
Mix and match the faces with interchangeable stretchy straps in crayon colors: red, teal, mint, neon green, sky blue, lemon yellow, hot-pink, peach, maroon and orange. Faces are sold at P500 each. A set with a face and two straps are sold at P1,000.
For those who prefer to see time in block numbers, the digital face is available for P700. All faces come with a one-year warranty.
For guys and girls
Billones said coming up with a fashionable combination makes the experience personal. The designs and colors are also made with the teen’s wardrobe in mind.
Swap Watch is being sold in Tomato stores in malls, where one can customize combinations. It is also available online, with free shipping nationwide for orders P400 and up.
Watch out for the Tomato Truck, a pop-up caravan that goes around the city. It has been recently spotted in campuses and universities, and has made stops in Noel Bazaar at World Trade Center, A. Venue Mall, Eastwood City Central Plaza, Capitol Commons and Cucina Andare food markets.
Tomato can also make Swap Watches for an organization, cause or event. Swap Watch is distributed by Tomato, which was initially a clothing store. It now carries, aside from the Swap Watch, dress watches under the Tomato Time line, bags, shoes and accessories.
