App-y Valentine’s Day

Just like in life, there are two kinds of people when it comes to love: the haves and the have nots. If you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone you love, then good for you. Chances are you probably won’t need these apps because you’ll be too busy making goo-goo eyes at your significant other, while your hands are reserved for hand-holding, not for smartphone-holding. Still, we’ve added some apps that may help you make Valentine’s Day extra sappy.

For those who are going down the cynical route and staying at home while tweeting/Instagramming snarky anti-Valentine’s sentiment, check these apps we’ve collected for your “Valentine’s-Day-is-just-a-regular-day” non-event.

If you’re half of a lovey-dovey twosome

Appy Couple  (Free, iOS/Google Play)

Proposing this Valentine’s Day? You’ll probably want to start planning the wedding right after (churches are hard to book, you know). This app is a virtual wedding scrapbook/planner where you can invite guests to collaborate on photo galleries, update them on wedding schedules, dress code, menu choices, etc., and celebrate with virtual champagne (although your friends may want to drown themselves in the real thing if you overdo it with the sappiness).

Fingle (iOS, iPad-only, $1.99)

This game will give you an excuse to touch your date while waiting for your heart-shaped nachos to be served. Think Twister but for fingers, Fingle is described by its creators as a “cooperative two-player iPad game about the thrills of touching each other on a multi-touch device.” The game’s movement makes sure that you get to touch each other’s hands and the ’70s cheesy bow-chicka-wow-wow music will make you laugh (or turn you on, depending on what floats your boat).

If you’re single…

Viki (Free, iOS/Google Play)

If you’re cynical on the outside but secretly hoping to find true love, then you may want to spend Valentine’s Day with a bowl of junk food, headphones and Viki. The free app compiles popular movies and TV shows from other countries, but Viki’s strength lies in its content of Korean and Japanese movies. No one does sappy love quite like the Koreans and your chips will be extra salty (with tears) after a movie or two.

A Cheating Boyfriend—Target Practice (Free, iOS)

So you’re single because he cheated on you. You really want to punch him, but he’s off having dinner with his new girlfriend. Not to worry, this app will help you unleash your pent-up aggression by letting you use the cheating (ex)boyfriend as target practice. Choose between fun weapons like pie, mud, arrows, apples and rocks to knock his virtual butt to the ground. It’s unfortunate that the app won’t let you superimpose your ex’s photo on the character, but it’ll do for now.

Wanna Meet! (Free, iOS)

This app shows you people near you along with their profiles. You can chat for a bit and then eventually meet in person. You already have one thing in common: You both like the same operating system.

Good Night Kiss (Free, iOS/Google Play)

If you’re having a pity party because you’ve got no one to kiss on V-day, then you need this app! Practice your stealthy ninja kissing skills by playing this game. The premise is simple: Keep on kissing but make sure you don’t get caught or the game is up. The game has four levels with different scenarios and bonus modes. If you’re not smooching anyone, might as well get some virtual practice done. •
