‘Vogue’ Writer in Hot Water over Sexist Joke About Bond Girl Lea Seydoux

While everybody’s been waiting for the new James Bond film Spectre, leading lady Lea Seydoux  has recently been making waves for a different reasonand one that’s not of her own doing. In a recent interview with British Vogue writer Giles Coren, she talks about the sexism in this iconic movie. Despite her interesting social take on the movie’s plot, it was Giles’ tweet that sparked more talk and reflection toward how we read sarcasm and feminism.

The writer took down the tweet after the initial backlash, but too bad for him. A separate thread on Twitter with Yahoo! Style UK seems to have made matters worse.

Giles responds to the headline, garnering an accusation toward his allegedly pretentious feminism.

Giles ultimately reveals his real intent, which probably didn’t translate well over social media.

Eventually, he surrenders and tweets a safer, less controversial version of his earlier publicity stint.

Nowadays, it’s seems that a tweet can get you into real trouble. Satirical or not, looks like some people aren’t in the mood to tolerate jokes about feminism just yet.
