Gold rush

TEAM MAGNUM:Magnum brand manager Brian Chanyungco, assistant brand manager Andrea Huang and brand ambassadors Rajo Laurel and Raymond Gutierrez

In a scene from the Bryan Singer-directed trailer, Benicio del Toro and Caroline Correa break into a vault to get their hands on 75 million ounces of gold—Magnum Gold.

You too can have your own action-packed ice cream adventure this weekend.

To introduce its newest flavor, Magnum took the cue from cinema’s greatest heists, hiding gold vaults in secret locations all over the city (here’s a clue: check out your favorite cinemas). These vaults will be opened Sunday at 3 p.m. and the first 100 people to reach each vault will be among the first to try Magnum Gold.

To start your adventure, visit the Magnum website (www.magnum.com.ph) and crack the code by using your mobile number. We tried it and received this message: “Good job on cracking the code. Now we need to find the vaults. I’ll call you in a bit so we can talk. Save the date: Feb. 9. Get ready to grab some Gold.” Your reward for being a Magnum secret agent?

MAGNUM invites you to grab the Gold.

Rich vanilla ice cream and sea-salt caramel covered with thick cracking golden Belgian chocolate and a layer of golden white chocolate.

“Magnum here in the Philippines is known for fun, craziness and innovativeness,” said Brian Chanyungco, brand manager of Unilever RFM Ice Cream Inc. “We’re very excited about this. The website will lead you to a secret chase. It’s fun, it’s different, it’s crazy.”

But even if you don’t make it to the vaults, don’t worry. You can still get your hands on Magnum Gold at your favorite supermarkets and convenience stores starting tomorrow afternoon. “Globally, it’s our number one flavor. It’s really, really good and people love it. No question in our minds—we had to bring it in,” said Brian.

Magnum Gold is sold at P55. Three-packs are also available for P160. “People should try it because it’s the first Magnum that’s double-dipped and at the same time, it has sea salt caramel. Who doesn’t love sea salt caramel? You really, really, really have to try it,” Brian said.
