THE COLLEGE OF LAW of the University of the East, with the Rotary Club of Manila and Integrated Bar of the Philippines, will conduct a symposium on “same-sex marriage” on Feb. 14, 1-5 p.m., at the IBP Conference Hall, J. Vargas Ave., Ortigas Business Center, Pasig City.

Speakers are Justice Zenaida Elepaño, a law professor and bar reviewer and former Supreme Court administrator; Rev. Ceejay Agbayan, founder of the LGBTS Christian Church; Bro. Wael Ibrahim, Serving Islam (Hong Kong) founder and chairperson; and Fr. Jerome Marquez, parish priest of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Church, Kamuning, Quezon City.

“This is a sensitive topic of far-reaching significance which may change many concepts of marital and social life,” said UE Law dean Amado D. Valdez.

Blended Learning school to hold orientation

The Center for Blended Learning (CBL) will be holding an orientation and open house on Feb. 15, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at 56 Lantana and New York Streets, Cubao, Quezon City (beside Immaculate Conception Cathedral).

The flower and garden show of the Philippine Horticultural Society Inc. opened recently with the theme “Horticulture for Tourism, Wellness and Livelihood.” Formally opening the show were Dorie Sangle Bernabe, PHS president; Surawit Wannakrairoj from Thailand, guest speaker; Ambassador Preciosa Soliven; Sen. Cynthia Villar; Dr. Elenita Binay, wife of Vice President Jejomar Binay; Joselito Campos, honorary PHS chair; and May Dumlao and Dorie Nicolas.

While the US and Europe traditionally define “blended learning” as a combination of face-to-face and online teaching, CBL has developed a Filipino approach that involves not only the online world and classroom setting, but parents, mentors and their communities as well.

CBL is accredited by the Department of Education’s Alternative Learning System Program.
