On Feb. 19-23, PResNt (Performance Research Network) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines will hold “MNL X,” a festival featuring new works in dance, theater and performance art by some of the most active independent artists and companies from Manila.

 

“MNL X” celebrates the various influences, disciplines, procedures, experimentations and collaborations happening in contemporary performances, and opens up the horizon of theater-going in the country.

 

With bold new works, “MNL X” is also an open call for a brave new audience ready to take on the festival’s roster of performances, workshops and dialogues.

 

The festival will be held at CCP’s Tanghalang Huseng Batute. Workshops and forums are scheduled in the morning or afternoon (free to the public, by reservation), and performances will happen in the evening, with afternoon shows on weekends at a regular ticket price of P350.

 

Featured artists and companies include Jay Cruz, Eisa Jocson, Arco Renz, Transitopia Plus, Kolab Co., Sipat Lawin Ensemble, Destiyero Theater Commune, INC (Innovative Noise Collective), Theater 231 and ArtisTalk.

 

PResNt is a community of independent artists and contemporary performance companies geared toward creating investigative and exploratory platforms that offer new modes of performance. Like the “MNL X” community page on Facebook and get updates about the upcoming festival.

 

Discounted ticket price of P250 is available for early birds until Sunday. One ticket for a show entails two performances, and a free workshop (upon reservation).

 

All performances will have a talk-back session, and all dates (Feb. 19-23) will have an after-performance festival gathering at Bar 1951, Adriatico St., Malate, Manila.
