Tried and tested: bronzer, eyeshadow, foundation

Yesterday, I accompanied a friend go makeup shopping. We went counter-hopping and tried a couple of makeup brands, scents and lotions. She even had her makeup done at the Bobbi Brown counter.

They taught her how to apply everyday makeup in five minutes. She ended up buying their gel liner.

When it comes to eyeliners, I’m more partial to gel liners since, unlike pencils, they don’t tug on my skin too much. The less tug, the less wrinkles.

Healthy glow

Near the Bobbi Brown counter was the Guerlain counter. There are some products I have to keep buying before they run out, and one of them happens to be Guerlain Terracotta. This is a beautiful bronzer that makes the skin glow. Some bronzers make my skin shine, but Terracotta gives my skin a healthy glow and it evens out imperfections. When people say I have great skin, I let them know it’s more like I’m using a great product.

At the moment I have Terracotta 01 (blondes) and 03 (dark). I was initially replacing my 02 but when I went to buy one, it was out of stock. Blondes works just fine on me; I find 03 a bit too dark since I have really fair skin, but I do like using it as a blush. In a few months, I am due to buy a new one since my 01 (blondes) is about to crumble. This product lasts really long. Mine lasts almost a year and I use it every single day, over makeup or on my nude face.

If you need new makeup, check out Guerlain’s new Inca Collection as well. I am loving the eyeshadow palette. Not only does it look cool, but the colors go from my fave brown and gold to blue and coral red.

Micro-transformations

Another product I dragged my friend to buy was Lancôme’s Visionnaire. The brand says it has created a molecule, LR2412, that propels the skin to go through a series of micro-transformations in the tissue. It’s a molecule that works like retinol, and yet is gentle on the skin. This product is suitable for all ages and skin types, and promises to help repair and heal skin. It also helps diminish the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores and uneven skintone. Everything I need in one bottle.

Does it work? Yes! I begged my friend to buy one for herself and told her if she’s not happy with it I’d be willing to buy it from her. I’m certain she will be thanking me for it in a few weeks. I could see the difference in my skin on the first week.

When we got to the house to hang out she pulled out her foundation: The Body Shop’s Extra Virgin Minerals. She wanted me to try it; I grudgingly obliged, but was soon enough happy that I did! I am very picky with foundations, but this one I liked.

It seemed a bit greasy at first, but upon application, it went on light and my skin looked a bit dewy. Just perfect!

We then went to Rockwell, the closest Body Shop from my house, so that I could buy my own. My shade is 203, but the foundation comes in six different shades so there should be one perfect for your complexion. This mineral range comes in liquid foundation, cream and loose powder.

A good foundation is the first step to making your skin makeup-ready, and this product ensures just that.
