Noteworthy jazz artists   from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the Philippines engage in a cross-cultural collaboration at “Euro-Pinoy Jazz Concerts,”  Feb. 17-22, in Taguig and Manila.

 

Presented by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (Eunic) Philippines with the European Union Delegation to the Philippines, the six-day event will commence with a four-day workshop on Feb. 17-20, in which  distinguished musicians will harmonize their unique brands of artistry to compose an original jazz repertoire.

 

Their syntheses will be performed in two concerts on Feb. 21, 8 p.m., at Arts in the City in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig; and on Feb. 22, 8  p.m., at Maestranza Plaza in Intramuros, Manila.

 

The jazz artists include Vietnamese-French guitarist Nguyên Lê; Spanish jazz percussionist Tino di Geraldo; German jazz singer Michael Schiefel; Italian double bass player Furio di Castri; and Filipino saxophonist Tots Tolentino.

 

“Euro-Pinoy Jazz Concerts” is the first project of the Eunic Philippines, composed of Alliance Française de Manille; Goethe-Institut Philippinen; Instituto Cervantes; Philippine Italian Association.

 

Collaborators are the European Union Delegation to the Philippines; National Commission for Culture and the Arts; Intramuros Administration; and Arts in the City.

 

The event is supported by the embassies of France, Italy and Spain, as well as by Qatar Airways, Bayleaf Hotel and Radio Republic.
