A grand southern wedding

THE NEWLYWEDS

Guests got a taste of a true Negrense celebration when Miguel Osmeña, son of Tommy and Margot Osmeña, married Bea Villegas, daughter of Antonio Ma. and Ana Villegas, in the bride’s hometown.

The ceremony was held in St. Andrew Parish in Amlan, Negros Oriental, a church built in 1885.

Fr. Ernesto Javier, SJ, the officiating priest, has known both Miguel and Bea since they were children, having been the director of Sacred Heart School of the Jesuits, which both the bride and groom attended.

The reception was held in the garden of Bea’s childhood home in Tanjay, Negros Oriental, about 30 minutes north of Dumaguete.

Most of the food consisted of Villegas family recipes made in their own kitchen. Even the wedding cake was baked by Bea’s mother.

Bea’s gown was made by her brother, Humberto Villegas, and the couple’s wedding car was a genuine LTI (London Taxi International) cab, the kind commonly seen on the streets of England.
