Cebu hotel is pro-environment

MÖVENPICK Hotel Mactan Island Cebu was awarded the international Green Globe Certification (GGC) by the CEO Guido Bauer.

Green Mövenpick Hotel & Resorts Group worldwide was redesigned to minimize energy consumption through the use of natural ventilation and day lighting elements. The hotel is oriented to minimize heat absorption while maximizing the amount of daylight received, both for lighting purposes and to take full advantage of Cebu’s tropical climate.

LED bulbs have been fitted throughout the hotel, resulting in energy savings. Energy use in the guest rooms is further reduced by regulating air-conditioning room temperatures to 24ºC and implementing keycard sensors to turn off electricity as soon as the guest leaves the room.

Guests can decide the frequency of towel changes in their bathrooms. Savings come from the hotel’s landscaped garden where a rainwater harvesting system is installed to collect water for the swimming pool.

Gray water is also used throughout the hotel’s bathroom facilities to reduce potable water consumption.

Green Globe is a sustainability certification for the travel and tourism industry. The certification is in full compliance with ISO standards, meaning independent third-party auditing of the 42 criteria and 337 indicators.
