Kate Moss and Topshop are launching their Spring-Summer 2014 collection, an eclectic mix of pieces encapsulating the British fashion icon’s
unique and revered vintage style. Firmly set apart from her previous Moss Topshop collections, she has worked hard with the brand’s design and buying teams to deliver this much updated and more premium collection—reaffirming her unrivaled position as a true British fashion icon.
Moss’ growth as a designer is reflected as this premium collection introduces the use of luxurious fabrics, including silk chiffon from London Soho, gold lamé from Italy and intricate lace from India. Also upping the luxury ante is the meticulous attention spent on trimmings and details, including hand-stitching and beading.
The collection More Kate, based on Kate’s wardrobe, has been joined by vintage-inspired pieces. It was important to Kate that these items were added to her collection this season.
“I love the whole process of designing, from hanging out with the girls in the design team, building the concept, getting excited about seeing the various stages of sampling, making tweaks and improvements and then seeing the final collection coming together,” she says.
“My first collection was seven years ago and I have grown up since then and things that I want to wear are different. It is a natural evolvement. I learned a lot from my experience the first time around, so I didn’t come in blind this time—I knew the process. Phillip (Green) has taught me a lot throughout doing these collections which is so valuable and I now have a more extensive knowledge across many areas of design, buying, fabrication and achieving different levels of quality,” Kate says.
