Ang #labo mo, #laboracay
“I want to kill whoever invented the hashtag ‘Laboracay,’” said one of our Facebook friends. At first, we thought it was giving the country’s top tourist spot a European definite article, as in “The Boracay,” except that Laboracay is the unhappy marriage of the words “labor” and “Boracay.” No, Boracay has not been declared as the “it” destination for giving birth, but Laboracay pertains to those who have been planning to spend their Labor Day weekend on the beach. Preparations include putting in time grunting, squatting and crunching at the gym in order to get super-cut abs and a thigh gap so wide a volleyball can easily pass through.
Happy 10th fetch-eversary, Mean Girls!
It’s been a decade—yes, we’re that old—since the favorite quotable movie “Mean Girls” hit the big screen. Ten years later, the lovable LiLo is not so lovable anymore, meanest girl Regina George/Rachel McAdams is now America’s (occasional) sweetheart, and Amanda Seyfried’s boobs can’t really tell the weather, but she’s super big-time now. Of course, let’s not forget the writer behind “Mean Girls,” Tina Fey, is now a legit superstar.
Becky’s back!
Our favorite shopaholic returns in Sophie Kinsella’s latest installment, “Shopaholic to the Stars.” This time around, Becky Bloomwood-Brandon channels her inner Rachel Zoe and takes LA by storm when she decides to become a personal stylist to the stars.

LA Clippers’ boss clipped for racist remarks
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, especially in LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s case. His girlfriend released an audio clip of Sterling spewing racist remarks, and now Sterling’s reputation in the NBA is forever tarnished. NBA commish Adam Silver banned Sterling from attending games and dealing with NBA and the Clippers for life. The owner was also fined $2.5 million, and is being pressured to sell the team.
Time reports that a popular adult site will plant a tree (not bushes) for every 100 videos streamed on the site’s specific categories. For all the men sowing wild oats out there, who knew you could save the planet hand over fist?

The Return of the Jedis
“Star Wars” fans received an advanced May the 4th present when casting for the Episode VII film was announced last Wednesday. Adam Driver of “Girls” joins the cast, starring in a role where he’s fully clothed (we think) for once. Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher will be reprising their respective roles. A crossover between the Harry Potter world and the Galactic Empire is happening, too, as Domhnall Gleeson, who played Bill Weasley in the “Harry Potter” movie franchise will join the roster of actors in Episode VII (geek-splosion!).
