Summer begins perfectly in Boracay. Whether one prefers the more private side of the island, at the Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, or the nerve center of the world-famous beachfront, with luxury resorts such as Discovery Shores or Two Seasons, Boracay’s year-round charm and excitement are at their best during the summer.
To make the pristine scenery more breathtaking, a night of fitness and transformation was held at the Pearl of the Pacific, with the resort hosting this year’s Century Tuna Superbods SuperChallenge 2014. It was a test of buns of steel to see which of the 10 pairs would win in the finals.
Century Tuna’s search for the perfect body made Boracay sizzle even more with the hottest and biggest summer event of the country. Century Tuna, the no.1 tuna brand, brought an excitement to the island that reaches a crescendo during the biennial event.
Further heating up the island was the big reveal of John Lloyd Cruz’s leaner body, after losing 18 pounds in six weeks.
All the fanfare started Friday night with the presentation of all the contestants at the White Party. I was thrilled to be carried by the hunks of Superbods for a cool photo.
My longtime make-up artist Victor Ortega, who was also a sponsor of the event, created my Boracay summer look for both events. He even joined me at the Zumba marathon that Saturday morning.
While Zumba dancing in the heat by the beach, all the Superbods guys removed their shirts, exposing their perfectly chiseled bodies. Even the ladies were all so sexy with just their skin covered with Belo sunscreen lotions and sprays.
Fellow judge Tim Yap and lovable Javi Martinez Pardo headed to Tides Resort for the launch of Vita Coco, while I met my fellow Rudy Project endorser Marc Nelson at the Rudy Project shop in D’Mall.

Before the main event, the summer gang enjoyed the sunset at Discovery Shores and was pampered with the resort’s wonderful, personalized service.
Discovery’s special touches include cleaning your sunnies and giving you ice-cold towels while you’re on the beach.
Boracay was so busy that weekend, too, with the dragonboat competition ongoing, with over 40 teams participating. I snuck over to check out the races, and they are a great addition to the Boracay summer vibe.
Right after dinner was served, the judges, led by Century Tuna GM Greg Banzon, took their places. Sexy host Joey Mead-King, looking so gorgeous, got the crowd all hyped up as the show of fitness, beauty and hotness began.
Swathed in an ethereal, orange resort dress, Joey greeted the VIPs, including the Po family and the rest of the Century Tuna Pacific Food executives.
Gela Gamboa, group product manager of Century Tuna, was seated beside Superbods 2012 grand winners Monika Sta. Maria and John Spainhour.
Century Tuna’s hot endorser Anne Curtis worked her charm and hyped up the crowd even more after donning a sheer, high-slit blue dress on her toned and sexy body. She introduced newest Superbod John Lloyd, who almost exposed his leaner body—but that will have to wait for another occasion.
It was a glorious night of fitness and transformation, as the event also saw the presentation of the before-and-after physiques of BNO’s Slick Rick, Tony Toni and Sam YG.
Out of the 20 stunning male and female finalists, Sara Polverini and Mauro Lumba were hailed as Mr. and Miss Superbods 2014, followed by Alaiza Malinao and Marneil Lim as first runners-up, while Catherine Almirante and Laurens Tolenaars took third place. Fellow judge Dennis Lustico and I gave a special award to Mauro as well, for the People’s Choice award.
Truly, Century Tuna has once again raised the bar with the sexiest and hottest summer event, The Superbods SuperChallenge 2014. Are we there yet, Tumi?
