Your F1 Singapore survival kit

Book early. Hotels are packed during F1 weekend so you better make your reservations early.

Use your tickets. Grandstand tickets give you access to the concerts, too—so don’t just go to watch the race, enjoy the shows, too.

Wear comfortable shoes. This isn’t the time for bringing out your sexy heels. Because there will be a lot of walking—from the grandstand to the concert area, from the concert area to the MRT station or wherever you’re parked—sneakers rule at this event. If you’re heading out to the F1 parties after the race, just pack your party shoes.

Pack light. Bags are checked at the entrance. If you want to make your journey quick, don’t bring too many things.

Be ready for heat or rain. Wear clothes that would keep you cool (Singapore is known for its humidity) but arm yourselves with an umbrella too, just in case it rains. F1 is a rain or shine event—a downpour wouldn’t stop the race.

Don’t leave your earplugs at home. Forget acting macho—you NEED earplugs if you’re watching the race. Your eardrums will thank you. And if you do forget, look for the survival kit tent, they sell kits for just S$2—that includes a pair of earplugs and a poncho. This year’s survival kit proceeds went to the Singapore Red Cross Society and St. John Ambulance Singapore.

Bring cash. There are a lot of food stalls in the area but most of them only accept cash.

Charge your camera. There will be plenty of photo opportunities (The fireworks! The concerts! The celebrities!) so don’t forget to check your camera’s battery before you go.

Get ready to party. Drink your vitamins, get enough sleep. You’re going to need your energy for this city-wide party.
