New treatments for flatter abs, tighter skin

Washboard abs are sexy regardless of gender. If you have tried everything from hardcore exercise combined with the strictest diet and healthy lifestyle but still have those love handles ruining the rest of your toned physique, then please read on.

But if you are overweight or obese, refuse to diet or exercise and are looking for a quick fix, the results of the machines I’ll talk about will leave you disappointed.

The Vanquish RF (radio frequency) machine by BTL Aesthetic intrigued me, because it’s supposed to do away with the usual method of the aesthetician/nurse/doctor holding the fat-burning apparatus, dousing your stomach with oil or gel and swirling the heating tip in one area for 30 minutes or so. That procedure could see the aesthetician or nurse becoming tired or pressing too hard, making the heat unbearable and bruising you by accident, or sometimes missing certain areas.

Vanquish is said to put the problem area inside a wide arc so the heat and effect are evenly distributed for a full 30 minutes. The skin surface is heated to a maximum of 110 degrees and cooled by the air, while the fat underneath is heated to 120 degrees, thereby liquefying fat and shrinking the fat cells without damaging the layers above and around them.

All it takes is 30 minutes of your time, spaced seven to ten days apart for three to five sessions.  Average loss after four sessions is two inches. The patient is also encouraged to maintain a healthy lifestyle and drink lots of water to help the body flush the fat out.

For now, Vanquish is only available at two clinics—Aesthetic Institute of the Philippines and Dr. Aivee Teo’s.

Bong Quintana’s testimonial

Vanquish is only used for large areas like the stomach, love handles and back fat. BTL Aesthetic, meanwhile, has come up with Exilis Elite, which requires a person to handle the machine, much like the traditional radio frequency machine. I would have given this a pass, until I heard and saw the testimonial of Bong Quintana, Pagcor VP of Entertainment and long-time partner of Boy Abunda.

After a quick and big weight loss due to a popular diet plan, Quintana found himself with very loose abdominal skin, so he tried Elixis Elite (EE). We were shown before and after photos of his EE treatment, and he even lifted his shirt to show his flat, tighter abs.

EE claims its technology reduces wrinkles, treat laxity and reshapes both the face and body from head to toe, in patients of all ages. It has done wonders for cellulite, crepe paper neck and turkey gobble chins, armpits and jowls.

EE has been awarded Best Skin Tightening Device at the Aesthetic Show and Best Body Shaping award at  Woman’s Choice awards.

Vanquish is available at Aesthetic Institute of the Philippines, tel. 7250808, 0917-7200808; and Dr. Aivee Teo’s clinic, tel. 4033245.

Elixis Elite is also available at Aesthetic Institute of the Philippines.
