From skincare to nail polish: Best products for moms

If you don’t own a single Sisley product, it’s about time you visit its counter in Rustan’s. I say this because it’s always worth checking out brands other than what you normally use to get the best results for your skin.

Sisley products are derived from natural plant extracts and essential oils, rigorously selected and controlled according to a number of criteria.

Geographic origin is supposed to determine which products are best. The part of the plant containing the desired activity is also taken into account.

The harvesting period is mastered to obtain the best extracts; the extraction method that best preserves the components is also considered. These factors all guarantee instant visible results, which is why Sisley is a strong competitive brand.

The rainy season has begun and I’m glad the terribly hot months have ended, but I want to try keeping a little color that I have worked hard on over the summer.

Thankfully, Sisley has great skincare products as well as a tanning line. I’ve been hooked on the following:

1. Sisley Sunleÿa Age Minimizing Global Suncare SPF 30—A waterproof facial sunscreen that not only contains powerful UVA and UVB filters that most products already offer, but also a whole range of active antiaging ingredients.

The Einkorn wheat extract in the formula combats cell glycation and skin aging. The dill extract boosts the elastin levels which keep the skin firm and wrinkle-free. Vitamin E works as a powerful antioxidant, and the soy peptide extract and white willow leaf extract in the cream help maintain the skin’s elasticity and firmness.

I also like its texture; and it has an herbal, earthy smell which I appreciate.

2. Super self-tanning hydrating body skincare—This product gives me a natural color even if I stay out under the sun for long periods. It is easy to apply and is fuss-free. It also contains a cocktail of active ingredients that keeps the skin smooth and hydrated long after application.

3. Eye concealer with botanical extracts—The thing about our undereye is that it is seven times more sensitive than the skin on our face. So it’s important to me that the concealer I use not only hides dark circles from late nights, or doesn’t clump up on my fine lines but also takes care of my skin. This product does all three.

Trish’s list

Trish Chua, co-owner of thrift shop 6 Planet, is one mom who knows a lot about the world of fashion and beauty. Being a mom myself, I know how challenging it is sometimes to look my best. But you don’t need to be a mom to have this problem; even the girls in the office need a tip or two on looking one’s best.

Here is Trish’s list:

1. Aromatherapy Associates Body Brush—This brush polishes without leaving a scratch.

2. Zenutrients Gugo Strengthening Shampoo—For those suffering from hair fall post-birth, this is salvation.

3. Skin Medica Vitamin C+E Complex—Like sunblock, it’s very basic.

4. Aerin Ikat Jasmine Eau de Parfum—I have always preferred clean scents, but I have fallen in love with this perfume which is floral and citrusy.

5. Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Toasted Sugar—It’s the perfect shade of nude. I haven’t been able to go back to deep reds and plums after discovering this.

6. Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact—It’s very chic and convenient because of the compact mirror.

7. Aesop’s Rosehip Seed Lip Cream—I use this on my hands, too.

8. Riqueza accessories—I’ve decided to collect all of these, they’re just too pretty. Women can wear them according to their mood: amethyst today for peace of mind; citrine for wealth; black obsidian to check negativity.

9. Eres Swimwear—Good for women who have just given birth. It keeps everything in check and feels great on the skin.

10. Illesteva Sunglasses— Stylish.
