Young Adult author Jenny Han is known for her bestselling “Summer” trilogy which starts with “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” It is the story of Isabel “Belly” Conklin returning to Cousins Beach for the summer to live with her childhood friends Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher.
It is a summer of upheaval because Belly turns from being a “pesky little sister” to a love interest for the two brothers, as the family encounters a tragedy that will force the kids to grow up.
Belly’s love story continues in “It’s Not Summer Without You,” and ends (happily? Read and see) in “We’ll Always Have Summer.”
Set in a posh Hamptons-esque environment, the mystery surrounding the three heroines will keep readers hooked and waiting with bated breath for the last book, whose release date is yet to be announced.
Her latest book (also a trilogy) is our favorite: “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.” The premise, writing, and tone are slightly reminiscent of the old “Sweet Dreams” series we used to gobble up like crazy. The characters Jenny Han creates are all lovable and memorable, and she’s just one of those “Pokemon” authors whose books you must collect and read.
