The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) has named Carissa Adea (Dance), Maria Teresa Barrozo (Music), Dex Fernandez (Visual Arts) and Lian Ladia (Curatorial Studies) as 2014 recipients of the ACC Philippines Foundation Fellowship Program.

Adea shall participate in dance workshops in the United States for six months for exposure to different dance styles and techniques.

Barrozo shall take up a five-month fellowship in the US to observe and research current practices, processes, innovations, and philosophies in music and sound art.

Fernandez will have a six-month fellowship in New York City to meet and exchange information with new artists, curators and other art professionals.

Ladia will undergo a program of study leading to a master’s degree in curatorial studies at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.

The ACC, founded by John D. Rockefeller III, supports artistic and scholarly programs that promote greater understanding and respect between the United States and Asia. Since 1963, ACC has provided grants to more than 300 artists and scholars from the Philippines.

In 2000, the Philippine Fellowship Program was established to provide more opportunities for cultural exchange between the Philippines and the United States. Over 60 Filipino artists and scholars have received ACC grants. The ACCP Foundation embarks on yearly fundraising activities and for the years 2010-2012, its art auctions have supported 13 grant recipients in the fields of visual arts, museology, ethnomusicology, theater, music, and theater arts management.
