Along with all the sentimental events accompanying the impending closure of the beloved Mandarin Oriental Manila hotel, comes one that will surely bring tears to the eyes of foodies: the last hurrah of the esteemed Tivoli, one of Manila’s best restaurants.

On Friday, July 11, “Memories: Best of the Best at The Tivoli” will take guests on “a culinary journey down memory lane” for a one-night-only dinner. The highlight is the return of chef Norbert Gandler, executive chef of the hotel from 1995 to 2003, who will prepare Tivoli favorites for a nine-course degustation menu, along with former executive pastry chef Ernie Babaran and former sous chef Kenneth Cacho. That means such classics as Millionaire’s Salad, The Tivoli Bouillabaisse, and the Roasted Nebraska Prime Angus Beef Strip Loin, among others.

The dinner will cost P2,400 per head, but is already fully booked. The restaurant will close for good on July 25.

“We hope that our guests will enjoy some of The Tivoli’s best-loved dishes from days past, for one last time before we close our doors,” said executive chef Rene Ottlik.

If you still can’t let go, the fabulous Margarita Fores is also whipping up dishes for Tivoli on July 18.
