Coconut and its byproducts boost top health and skincare lines

COCO love PHOTO COLLAGE BY NIMU MUALLAM

I love coconut water. When I was pregnant with my first child, my dad would bring coconut from the market once a week so I could have fresh coconut water. This practice carried on in all my pregnancies and I believe it’s one of the reasons I never experienced UTI.

Last week I was sent a sample of Vita Coco, which I shared with the other participants of a painting session. I was quite anxious since I had tried packaged coconut water and it didn’t taste fresh. But Vita Coco tasted fresh and was so good cold I wish I had more. So I brought home the container with me and gave it to my cook so she could buy some for the house.

Coconuts have always been known as an all-around plant, providing food, water, oil, and with enough creativity, even shelter! They’re chock-full of nutrients from the flesh to the juice. The coconut itself helps fight obesity by speeding up one’s metabolism. It’s high in dietary fiber that promotes regular detoxification of the body.

Coconuts also stabilize blood sugar and lower cholesterol all while keeping you refreshed and hydrated! Its oil locks moisture in while keeping oxidants out.

Not only that, the coconut also reduces protein loss in hair, making your locks stronger than ever. Its water provides an interesting tale: the structure of the coconut acts as a filtration system that gives you pure juice with all its nutrients and healthy enzymes. The water hydrates; it replenishes lost minerals and fluids. The lauric acid and cytokines protect you against agents that age your body from the inside and out. And it promotes good oxygen circulation in your body by boosting blood circulation.

Not surprisingly, there are several beauty products that have coconut as an ingredient. Here are some you should check out:
