On October 16, a UFO conference will be held at the Philippine Air Force Museum, Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
We don’t hear much about sightings of UFOs in the Philippines nowadays—or elsewhere in other parts of the world—unlike before. Does this mean there are fewer activities in this field, or have the so-called aliens from outer space stopped coming to visit us?
Not at all! I think what’s happening is that the mass media have chosen to simply ignore reported sightings of alien spacecraft compared to years back. But visitations by ET’s have continued up to the present time.
Possible existence
The first time the world became aware of the possible existence of creatures from outer space was the widely published report of Kenneth Arnold, a businessman in Colorado who is also a private pilot. He reported seeing nine shining disks in the Cascade mountains in Washington in June 1947. His description of the disks as looking “like saucers being thrown” gave birth to the term “flying saucers.” Now the preferred term for them is Unidentified Flying Objects or UFOs.
Nobody knew what they were nor where they came from. And nobody saw them land anywhere. Reports of other UFO sightings began to appear everywhere, but no one could come up with hard evidence for their existence, although numerous reports from highly credible witnesses like Air Force pilots were received.
In 1948, American Air Force Capt. Thomas Mantell, flying with three other F51 Mustang Fighters, chased a mysterious flying object up to 20,000 feet. Then he was hit by an unknown force that blew up his plane. Later, his body was found near the remains of his aircraft, which had disintegrated. Nobody could explain what hit his plane, and it has become one of the many unsolved mysteries in the whole of UFO lore.
In November 1952, George Adamski, a Polish-born American, reported having made personal contact with a visitor from Venus in a California desert. The meeting with aliens was witnessed at a distance by six other companions of Adamski. Later, he said he had been invited to board the alien spacecraft and they took him to the edges of our universe and even distant stars and galaxies. Nobody took him seriously, although he produced footprints the Venusian visitor had allegedly left behind and the written testimonials of his six companions.
Series of studies
Because of the growing number of reported sightings of UFOs in the United States and elsewhere in the world, the US Air Force commissioned a series of studies about UFOs, the last of which was called the Blue Book Project. The study concluded that UFOs do not exist and that reported sightings could be explained by cloud formations, shooting stars, weather balloons or mass hysteria.
Because the Project Blue Book report met widespread public outcries of official whitewash and cover-up, the Air Force, in 1966, commissioned physicist Edward Condon to review the previous studies of UFOs. After two years, Condon made the same conclusion, that UFOs did not exist. It agreed completely with all previous conclusions made by previous studies and added nothing new.
UFO enthusiasts protested that the Condon committee studied only 90 out of about 25,000 sightings that had been reported. And it chose the least dramatic of such sightings. Dr. Hynek, the former astronomer who did not believe in ET’s, observed that, “The Condon report adroitly avoided mentioning more than a quarter of the cases examined.” The Condon study therefore did not solve the UFO dilemma, it only added more speculation about the phenomenon.
In the Philippines, a retired colonel of the then Philippine constabulary meticulously recorded all reported sightings of UFOs over a 10-year period. In his research, he recorded the time, place, number of witnesses and length of time the object was in sight, along with other details. He was never taken seriously by his peers in the military or by the general public, and after years of trying to get people to take a look at his reports, he lost interest and disappeared from public view after immigrating to the United States.
Nobody knows where he is now. Perhaps he has been taken to other planets by the ETs he had pursued for over two decades.
Conference speakers
On Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, a UFO conference will be held at the Philippine Air Force Museum at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is organized by Tony Israel, a former businessman, who videotaped UFO sightings beginning September 2000 to late 2001. His life has never been the same again after that.
He has invited the following speakers to the conference: Prof. Erle Frayne Argonza, Lily Dueñas, Gerard Aartsen and Neil Gould. Interested UFO enthusiasts may contact Tony Israel at 0905-1774911. Tickets are reasonably prized and includes lunch and snacks.
