With EDM (electronic dance music) gaining more fans in the Philippines, it’s no surprise that a lot of superstar DJs are coming to perform for a local audience.
EDM music festivals and concerts, such as Close Up Summer Forever and Neverland Manila, were well-attended due to a developing EDM culture and the growth of the Filipino EDM fan base.
In the past, many internationally renowned electronic artists such as DJs Steve Aoki, Axwell, Nicky Romero, Alesso and Zedd have visited the country and delivered stunning performances.
On Oct. 1, however, Manila will have the opportunity of a lifetime to watch Hardwell, one of the world’s most talented producers and DJs, perform at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Sponsored by Big Fish Radio, the concert, dubbed “Go Hardwell or Go Home,” will be his first performance in the country and will feature one of the most anticipated talents this year: Kill the Buzz.
Voted as 2013’s No. 1 in DJ Magazine’s annual Top 100 DJs poll, Hardwell has seen a huge surge in popularity in recent years.
Having played in some of the world’s most popular EDM festivals such as the Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland and the Electric Daisy Carnival, he has grown to become one of the most respected and revolutionary musicians in the world.
Widely known for his progressive and big room sounds, Hardwell favors songs that make use of bass-heavy synths and energy-driven drops, which have garnered him worldwide acclaim.

Original and unique
As an avid fan of dance music, I follow many artists in the EDM scene, and I must say that Hardwell is probably one of the most original and unique artists out there. His songs always have a refreshing feel, which shows his ingenuity and creativity. He always innovates in his style, experimenting with different genres and unconventional sounds.
I started following him early in his career, when he released one of his first masterpieces back in 2012 called “Spaceman.” Once I heard it, I immediately fell in love with its grinding and highly addictive bass line and its mesmerizing and high-octane drop.
I immediately knew that Hardwell would become one of the most promising producers of our generation. And ever since then, I have followed every single release of his.
The Dutch big room superstar does not disappoint. Release after release, Hardwell offers remarkable productions that surpass even my highest expectations. His next big hit, “Apollo,” was nothing short of spectacular. With its captivating progressive melody and enthralling vocals, it quickly became one of my all-time favorite tracks.
Although his first few recordings were electro-based, he proved that he could also produce euphoric, mellifluous, progressive house tracks.
The face of EDM fests
Having released a number of hits such as “Never Say Goodbye,” “Dare You” and “Jumper,” Hardwell has become the face of almost every major EDM festival in the globe and has had the most popular clubs, such as Hakkasan in Las Vegas and Ushuaia in Ibiza, come after him.
He excels at giving the crowd the performance of a lifetime, and never fails to perform a dazzling show. His performance in 2014’s Tomorrowland, in particular, was one of his best sets so far.
Because of his ability to perform live, seamless mashups and his ability to anticipate what the crowd wants, he knows how to engage his audience and how to satisfy them with his personal craft and artistic improvisation.
At age 26, the highly prolific Hardwell has had many noteworthy accomplishments. As one of the pioneers in the EDM industry, he has undoubtedly revolutionized our perception of dance music, and has left a lasting legacy on the EDM scene.
At the prime of his career, he is showing no signs of slowing down. With his fervent passion and unrelenting drive for music, we can be sure that Hardwell would be one of the key players who will propel EDM forward in the years to come.
