Host/model/blogger Mari Jasmine inspires people to eat right

MARI Jasmine works a blackand- white ensemble made more interesting with leather details.

Mari Jasmine is the latest addition to ETC Channel’s “Etcetera” family. A roving reporter, she works alongside Kim Jones-Rosales in covering fashion and lifestyle.

Born to a Japanese mother and English father, and raised and educated in Sydney, she says she had “the most incredible childhood, which I will be forever grateful for.”

She has traveled around Asia for modeling, and recently settled down here. “I tried it out, and ended up staying,” she says.

When she’s not shooting for her TV show, she’s either attending castings and modeling or working on her blog https://marijasmine.com, where she shares healthy recipes (she’s into natural, wholesome ingredients) and her knack for photography.

“I hope it inspires people to eat well and take care of themselves while eating delicious food,” Mari says.

In the Philippines, she has discovered fruits and vegetables she’s never seen—lanzones, duhat, santol and chico, among them. “I’m still coming across new things all the time!”

Her blog generates views from all over the globe. Once she received a message from a female reader who was inspired to start a colorful, healthy lifestyle and as a result, lost 25 lbs.

“It really makes my day when I get messages like that,” she says. “I also really enjoy seeing people following my recipes.”

Her goal? “To be healthy and happy.”

What is your signature style?

I don’t have one “go-to style” as I want to be able to wear what I want, depending on my mood. I appreciate simplicity and clean lines. When I’m dressed up, I usually go for something more on the feminine side. On a day-to-day basis, I keep it pretty simple: jeans, heels and a nice top.

What is your style philosophy?

Stay classy.

Who is your style inspiration?

HER favorite scent, Poême by Lancôme

Nicole Warne. Not just for her style, but the photos she publishes. They’re always vivid and full of color.

I have a lot of…

Loose cardigans. I love them because they are something that can look nice but be so comfortable at the same time. They also look effortless.

My most versatile piece…

My simple black jeans. Most of the time I like to dress smart casual, and you can really dress them up or down. They go with almost anything, too!

I like Martin Bautista. I think his designs are really classy and elegant.

What is your signature scent?

I’ve used the same perfume since I was 16: Poême by Lancôme. It’s quite a bold perfume but at the same time feminine, elegant and romantic. The epitome of class!

What are the beauty products you swear by?

Aloe vera! I bought the plant recently in the weekend markets, and I use the gel on my skin. I’d always used it as a child when I was sunburned, but I recently started using it for general skincare, and it works wonders.

How do you pamper yourself?

From time to time I treat myself to a pedicure. Manicures don’t last long for me as I work in the kitchen all the time. I believe that beauty comes from within so I pamper myself by buying quality ingredients for my food.

What makes a woman sexy?

Confidence, intelligence and a smile.
