Food trip at the fashion hall | Lifestyle.INQ

At Ippudo’s recent private tasting event, we realized that three of our most intense food cravings can be found in the same place, SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall.

People line up at these three food spots; and we totally get why. In fact, we lined up, too.

Stop #1: Ippudo, which just opened its doors last Wednesday. We’re so happy that this world-class ramen house, famous around the globe for its ramen and pork buns, is finally in the country. Our favorites are the Shiromaru Motoaji (P375) and Akamaru Shinaji (P390) ramen, plus the pork buns (P100), the gyoza (P195) and the Curry Cheese Harumaki (P190).

Stop #2: Tim Ho Wan for the pork buns (P145 for one order of three buns), of course. Unlike Ippudo’s version (steamed bun with braised pork belly and Ippudo’s original sauce), Tim Ho Wan’s buns are baked until they’re golden and slightly crusty. Bite into one and it crumbles to reveal the delicious barbecue pork filling. The demand for the pork buns is so high that there’s a limit to the amount you can order. When we went, we were first allowed to purchase just two orders per person and then, eventually, three.

Stop #3: St. Marc Café. We’ve heard so much about this Japanese café’s Chococros (P55 each, P499 for a dozen). We finally tried them and we’re hooked. These little nutty and flaky croissants are a real treat for chocolate lovers—there’s a melted chocolate bar inside each one. We loved them so much that we brought home a dozen.
