Chalk it up

Announce the menu of the day elegantly by transforming a platter into a chalkboard display. This can be used for other announcements, such as place cards when applied to a smaller plate. Start scouring your pantry for that ideal plate you’ve got hidden somewhere.

Here’s what you’ll need:

A platter or big plate

Chalkboard paint (available in specialty hardware stores)

Alternative: flat or matte black spray paint

Masking tape

1. Affix tape on the borders of your platter where you don’t want the paint applied.
2. Read the instructions on the spray paint before applying.
3. Apply paint and let dry.

4. Start writing away with your chalk.
