Every day about 3,500 children in the Philippines struggle with cancer. To help uplift their lives, American salon brand Matrix gathers hairdressers and Filipino women for the “Matrix 8-Inch Cut for Cancer Challenge.”

Believing that stylists can create change everyday, Matrix has started the global initiative, Matrix Chairs of Change.

Through the program, “Matrix has formed a worldwide community of stylists in its mission to touch and change lives,” said Matrix Philippines product manager Elise Veloso.

This year, to mark the first Chairs of Change project in the Philippines, Matrix introduces the 8-Inch Cut for Cancer Challenge.

Matrix, with Kythe Ateneo, is asking Filipino women to join the project by cutting off and donating eight inches of their hair for the benefit of Filipino children with cancer.

Volunteer hairdressers from project partner David’s Salon will donate their time on Oct. 25 to do haircuts for free at The Block, 2/F, SM City North Edsa, Quezon City.

Matrix Philippines has also tapped celebrity Maxene Magalona and lifestyle blogger Jackie Go as ambassadors for the project. With cancer awareness as advocacy, both took on the challenge and cut eight inches of their hair.

Matrix is a 33-year-old global brand found in 57 countries.
