‘No Miss Universe in 2014; will take place instead in Jan. 2015’

MANILA, Philippines—The 63rd annual Miss Universe® pageant supposed to be held this year won’t push through but instead will be held in Doral, Miami early 2015.

In an announcement posted recently on the pageant’s website, coowners of Miss Universe Organization (MUO) Donald J. Trump and the NBC, together with MUO president Paula M. Shugart, said Miss Universe will take place in Doral and will be aired live from Florida International University on NBC, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015.

“The City of Doral is experiencing a record amount of economic growth and has gained attention from Fortune 100 companies in the short time since its incorporation in 2003,” Trump said in the statement.

“Doral is a symbol of success and holding the Miss Universe Pageant here will amplify its reputation as a world showcase city. Even as one of the newest cities in Miami, Doral is a premier place to live, work, and play due to its beautiful lifestyle and entrepreneurial opportunities,” Shugart said.

The statement added since 1960, the MUO and Miami “have had a longstanding relationship, with the Miss Universe Pageant held in the Greater Miami area 15 times, more than any other host city in the world.
Gabriela Isler from Venezuela is expected to crown her successor at the conclusion of the live telecast, the statement added.
