Rustan’s has always been known as a top retailer of global brands. Recently, the country’s premier department store chain held its World Wide Wear, Around the World in Fashion campaign—highlighting an eclectic blend of East meets West designs from Asia, Europe and the United States.

“The campaign underscores the global aesthetic and jet-setting lifestyle of the Rustan’s shopper, because every destination calls for the perfect piece to see the world in,” said Rustan’s creative director Inno Sotto.

Capping off the promotional event was a fashion show held at the Gallerie in Rustan’s Makati.

Guests were taken on a virtual trip around the world’s fashion capitals as models strutted down the airport-theme runway.

DJ Katsu, a jet-setter herself by virtue of having played in clubs around the globe, handled the adrenaline-pumping music that night, dahlings.

Later on, the exhilarated guests were smart enough to buy the various specially discounted clothing brands.

Biggest thrill

The latest creations of Japanese footwear designer Yosi Samra (YS), best known for his fold-up ballet flats, were featured in his 2014 Holiday Collection at Blackbird restaurant in Nielson Tower, Makati.

Emceed by TV personality Karen Pamintuan, the event projected a subdued elegance, palangga. White orchids were neatly arranged on a round wooden table at the center. Clear glass bowls filled with ice were used to chill drinks.

The dining tables had crisp, white linen—a striking contrast to the black chairs.

Guests were treated to a sumptuous lunch that included salmon and grass-fed Australian tenderloin, specially prepared by chef Colin Mackay.

The show began with models going down Blackbird’s spiral staircase, wearing all-white tank tops and shorts, big sun hats and fab YS ballet flats made of suede and patent leather with bold animal prints, gold studs and metallic finish.

The biggest thrill came when each one of the guests were given a pair of YS shoes.

Favorite drink

Dahlings, let me tell you about Casa Noble’s Reposado Tequila which I had the privilege of tasting for the first time at a private party hosted by my friend Yuan Ongpin.

This drink, which is aged for 364 days in French white oak barrels, has since been my favorite, to the point that I carry it in a flask when I go to events.

Casa Noble was one of the sponsors at the recently held Red Charity Gala, an annual benefit for the Philippine Red Cross spearheaded by Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Kaye Tiñga, which, this year, featured the Philippine visual arts-inspired couture collection of Jesus “Jojie” Lloren.

As far as I’m concerned, one of the best surprises to be auctioned at the Gala was the PRS (Paul Reed Smith) Santana Black Abraxas SE model electric guitar, personally autographed by the multi-Grammy awarded legend himself, and donated by Casa Noble Ultra Premium Tequila.

The winning bidder was Felix Ang of CATS Motors; congratulating him was Edwin Francis Ong, president of Global Noble International Corp., Casa Noble’s exclusive Philippine distributor.

Best to know, palangga, that Casa Noble is made from 100-percent organically grown blue agave; it’s sought-after for its unique aroma, real smooth taste and an awesome velvety finish.
