How to make the most out of your weekend getaway

tripaholicsMANILA, Philippines – Everyone who works or studies five days a week anticipates the weekends, and even more so the long holiday weekends when they can unwind and enjoy. Nothing recharges the mind and relaxes the soul like a weekend getaway.

Whether you are escaping to the beach or going to a new city, here are a few things you can do to make sure you get back from your trip rested and energized.

  • Research

Before you embark on a trip, take the time to research about your destination. For example: How to get to and from the airport, familiarizing yourself with bus and/or train routes and stations near your lodging, and tickets and other information on the place you want to visit. All these help when planning your itinerary and booking your accommodation.

  • Create an itinerary

After researching the different sites you want to visit, prioritize the ones you really want to see and find out how far they are from each other. This makes it easier to group the sites and activities you want to do based on location. By creating an itinerary in advance, you aren’t rushing between tourist spots that are at opposite parts of town, and can spend more time in an area per day without stress.

  • Pack Light

As the trip is just a weekend getaway, ideally 2-3 days, there is no need to carry around check in luggage. Taking a hand luggage on the plane helps eliminate time wasted at the bag carousel and more time at your destination.

Packing Tip – Check the weather forecast a few days before you go and check what is on your itinerary before you pack so you won’t have bring unnecessary outfits.

4) Get inspired by other travelers
