The Discovery Country Suites, Tagaytay, reopens this weekend after an extensive seven-month refurbishment by architect and interior designer Isabel Berenguer-Asuncion.

JAPANESE-THEME Nara Room

The hotel’s regular patrons will notice the improvements instantly. A more modern design is immediately seen in the muted colors and uncluttered aesthetic of the lobby, rooms, and the famous Restaurant Verbena. The lighter colors and uncluttered visuals of the hotel were designed to provide a more serene environment.

The seven rooms of Discovery Country Suites are all renovated to conform to the whole new motif of lighter color treatments in their design, but will still retain the themes the rooms are named and famous for. The Oxford, Nantucket, Nara, Saint-Tropez, Andalucia, Siam and Ceylon are all ready to welcome regulars and new guests alike.

New sound-proofing materials were incorporated in all the accommodations; when we toured the hotel rooms, we could literally hear a pin drop when alone in one of the new lodgings. The noise of the cars outside and the hustle and bustle of hotel activities are all blocked from your hearing. Just what you need for a relaxing alone-time, reading, listening to music, or spending a quiet, rejuvenating night with a loved one.

The stunning master suite, The Oxford, is an absolute vision. It has generous spaces, a terrace overlooking Taal Lake, and a working fireplace—perfect to sit down, swill some scotch whiskey and muse about life and its mysteries while staring at the fire.

And, of course, the suite has a huge bathroom, all with state-of-the-art appurtenances; the bathtub has commanding views of the lake. Guests can soak in the tub with some champagne while looking at the lake, an unqualified treat for newlyweds or “staycationers” who want to spoil themselves.

RESTAURANT Verbena

Aside from renovating the hotel interiors and rooms, the famous Restaurant Verbena is also updated with a cleaner design and a clearer view of the lake and volcano. Diners can now opt for breakfast, lunch or dinner with a view of the lake or have their meals in the separate dining areas for more privacy.

Expect new and exciting improvements in the menu of Restaurant Verbena as well.  The Discovery Group’s corporate chef, Anthony Raymond, has collaborated closely with Restaurant Verbana’s executive sous chef, Celmar Ambida, to reinterpret the contemporary country cuisines of the restaurant.

Discover Country Suites formally opened on Oct. 27. For a respite from the stress and pollution of the city, or if you’re looking for the perfect wedding reception venue, the Discovery Leisure Company has got you covered with the reopening of Discovery Country Suites. Expect long reservation lines already. The good people of Discovery Country Suites told us that a wedding reception has already been booked the moment the hotel reopens this month.

Daytrippers, staycationers and lovers, I suggest you guys start reserving your rooms now.
