Musician-designer Kate Torralba takes a respite from her UK tour to play two special shows: a homecoming concert this Monday, Nov. 17, at 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub, and Dec. 5 at Jack TV’s MAD Fest, to be held at the MOA concert grounds.
The 12 Monkeys gig will be an intimate show featuring “Kate Torralband,” the diminutive singer-songwriter’s revolving all-star band. This time, the lineup includes Filipino rock legends Buddy Zabala and Raymund Marasigan, and guitarist-producer Sach Castillo. The effervescent Kai Honasan opens the show, and some surprise musical guests will be joining Kate onstage.
MAD Fest, slated to be the biggest music, arts and dance festival in the Philippines, is headlined by New Zealand’s pop superstar Kimbra. Kate is honored to be among the select Filipino musical acts to open for the award-winning songstress. “Kimbra is dynamite onstage! I was lucky enough to catch her at Laneway Festival a couple of years back and I tell you, you shouldn’t miss this one!” Torralba enthuses.
Kate has spent the past four months performing in Great Britain, landing shows at distinguished music venues like Ronnie Scott’s Bar, The Troubadour, and even playing at the O2 Academy in Leeds for P Fest UK 2014. Her album, “Long Overdue,” has been a critical and commercial success in the Philippines. It is distributed internationally by Universal Music Group via MCA Music Inc.
Tickets for Kate’s 12 Monkeys Show will be available at the venue (5/F, Century City Mall, Kalayaan Ave.) for P250 each. MAD Fest tickets are available at SM Ticket Outlets and at SMTickets.com. For more information, visit https://www.facebook.com/katetorralba.
