Have you heard, palangga, that the one-of-a-kind Society for Cultural Enrichment Inc. (SCEI) inducted its new members recently at the 41st-floor poolside of One Rockwell East Tower, Makati?

The chic venue had everyone raving about its 360-degree view of Manille’s skyline, especially that of Makati and Taguig, dahlings.

The inductees comprised some of the country’s women of substance and gentlemen with perfect portfolios.

Inducting officer was SCEI president Helen Ong, while program host Bianca Valerio kept things interesting.

Aprés the induction, guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner, followed by singing and dancing, with Tony Pastor performing classic Filipino hits on piano.

But the night’s biggest hit was Frankie Aseniero, the dynamic tenor who had everyone on the edge of their seats with his fab classical songs.

As always there was time for some spirited dancing. The women of SCEI sure knew how to have a blast, palangga!

Dressing up as a challenge

BRAND ambassadors Cheryl Tiu and Marco Lobregat, managing director of Terry SA Anne Gonzalez

It’s funny when young women (and men) say, “I don’t have a thing to wear tonight”—when their closets are bursting with so much international and local brands. But then again, what they probably mean is that the search for clothes for a particular mood or situation is never-ending.

“For stylish millennials, their fashion choices represent their character and their lifestyle—but dressing up has become a challenge. We are considering how we are going to protect ourselves from the irregularity of weather conditions,” said Anne Gonzalez, managing director of Terry SA—a portfolio of international brands.

K-Way, a South African brand of outdoor apparel and hiking gear, is the latest addition to Terry SA’s growing fashion portfolio.

“The European outwear conceptualized in 1965 is a jacket known for its lightweight, waterproof and reversible material, Gonzalez said, adding “that they are envisioning K-Way to tread beyond bolstering one’s choice of fashion.”

She pointed out that she sees K-Way as a style statement that can’t just allow the new normal—bad weather—to ruin one’s fashion sense.

When Terry SA launched K-Way at Common Thread in Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, it showed people how it also complements one’s lifestyle. The event introduced four personalities that individually thrive in their own fields: Amanda Fernandez for sports; Marco Lobregat, the environment; Patty Laurel-Filart, fashion; and Cheryl Tiu, travel.

K-Way’s initial products will be sold at Common Thread in Greenbelt 5 and Power Plant Mall, and on pormada.com. Follow K-Way Philippines: @KWayPH
