The skies were dark and rain was pouring as guests flew, drove and floated into Bacolod from Manila and the surrounding provinces on the eve of the Trebol-Roces wedding. Thankfully, the next day, the skies cleared for supermodel Isabel Roces’ momentous day.
Flying in from Manila was a wedding dream team. Rhett Eala designed a strapless princess-cut bridal gown in silk organdy and Mikado silk with French lace details and silk flowers embellished with Swarovski crystals. The bridal train was made of laser-cut organza with beaded lace appliqués. Jing Monis tied her hair into a high chignon which did well to emphasize Juan Sarte’s radiant makeup. JC Buendia made the groom’s piña abaca barong with custom embroidery and coco shell buttons. Francis Perez of Team Pat Dy made sure it was all beautifully documented in photos.
Runway regulars Valerie de los Santos, Bianca Valerio, Antoinette Ocampo, and Mika Lagdameo-Martinez made for a stunning entourage, wearing gowns by Eala in lapiz lazuli and old rose, and with makeup by Xeng Zulueta.
Felix Manuel “Fean” Trebol and Isabel Roces were wed at the grand Redemptorist Church in Bacolod. Isabel vowed she would happily learn Ilonggo, “…someday.” They were then shuttled via a sleek, white Peugeot 508 to Bacolod’s renowned landmark, The Ruins, for the reception. A tent was set up on the lawn, with a French country theme, to accommodate their 300 guests.
The couple did away with the conventional reception programme, opting instead for a night filled with classics and world music from performers like DJ Elmer Dado and Grupo Tribale, capped off by an R&B set from DJ Cao Ocampo.
The couple’s parents, Felix Coscolluela Trebol, Agueda “Ditas” Teves Trebol, Edgardo Carvajal Roces and Julie Sarmiento Roces, were present at the happy occasion.
Principal sponsors were Pagcor president Jorge V. Sarmiento and Mercedes “Peachy” Prieto-Santos of Casa Roces, to name two.
Iza Calzado, Robby Mananquil, Bubbles Paraiso, chef Marcus Gfeller of Cav with painter wife Sandra Gfeller, Karla Delgado and Leon Araneta as well as former QC Mayor Jun Simon were also present.
Isabel used:
- Lipstick: Pixy semi-matte lipstick in Mikasi
- Scent: Tory Burch
- Heels: Dune slip-on slides—“Nothing fancy so I could slip them off and enjoy a breather every now and then.”
- Earrings: Diamond drop earrings
- What was in your bag?
I didn’t have a bag. I wanted to be free of worries on that day. Juan said I wouldn’t need a retouch, and sure enough, the makeup applied at noon held until 4 a.m. the next day.
- Did you have a look in mind?
I left it all up to Juan and Jing.
- What was your something old/new/borrowed/blue?
I’m not particularly superstitious so I didn’t follow this one.
