MANILA, Philippines – Anticipating the heavy rainfall and strong winds Typhoon Ruby (international name: Hagupit) will bring to Luzon, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) decided to postpone its annual Paskuhan to a later date.
The university’s Office of the Secretary General said the event, which was supposed to be held on Monday (Dec. 8) will be moved to Thursday (Dec. 11).
“In anticipation of the possibility that typhoon Ruby will affect Metro Manila in the next few days, the Paskuhan Festivities scheduled on Monday will instead be held on Thursday, 11 December following the same schedule of activities as previously announced,” UST posted on its Facebook page.
“In the meantime, we all continue praying for the safety and protection of our sisters and brothers in the areas that will be traversed by the storm. We ask the Lord for His mercy and compassion. Keep safe, dear Thomasians,” it added.
The Paskuhan is a popular pre-Christmas event held at the university. It often draws tens of thousands of students and guests. It features concerts, contests and a fireworks display.
