A reader sent in the following intriguing questions: “Isn’t it true that a spirit has no sex? I mean, is it neither male nor female? So how come people say that a spirit that manifests to them is either a man or a woman?
“The second question I have is this: How do you explain the existence of gays and lesbians—gay, meaning a biologically male person but female in thinking, feeling and behavior; and a lesbian, meaning a biologically female , but male in thinking, feeling and behavior?”
Yin and yang
It is true that in the beginning, that is, in the spirit world, there is no gender distinction. A spirit is neither male nor female.
But in the soul’s descent into materiality or physicality, a spirit assumes either a male or female polarity or “yin” and “yang” in Chinese terminology, because it is the nature of physical reality to be expressed in duality. In other words, one cannot exist in the material universe except in the terms of either yin or yang.
So, if a person is born male, grows up and dies, his awareness would be that of the male sex, because that was what he was on earth. That is what is recognizable by his living relatives and friends. He does not transform into an androgynous or sexually-neutral being like an angel.
Once he has reviewed his immediate past life, he may decide this time to be reincarnated as a female to work out his karma on this earth plane.
One with God
Remember that the reason we are reincarnated is to perfect ourselves and eventually be united or be one with God. To understand things and achieve perfection, we have to experience being male or female, and being a member of a certain race different from our previous incarnation.
How, for instance, can you truly understand a Japanese, Chinese, German, Russian, African or American if you have not been one yourself? It is not possible to achieve perfection or understanding of everything in a single lifetime. Human life is much too short for that.
The next question is, how do we explain a homosexual person? Is he a female trapped in a male body? Or a male trapped in a female body?
One clue is karma. A gay person in my seminar on “Soulmates, Karma and Reincarnation” discovered during the past life hypnotic regression in class that he was a man who executed homosexuals by beheading them. In this lifetime, he has been given a chance to experience being gay himself.
The other factor has something to do with the process of incarnation or descent into the earth plane. A female, in the course of being born a male, could not really forget or let go of her past female incarnation, although born a male in this lifetime. Therefore he may still long for the time when he was a woman, though now in a male body. The same goes for lesbians.
The next “Soulmates, Karma and Reincarnation” seminar is on Dec. 15 at Rm. 308 Prince Plaza I, Legaspi St., Greenbelt, Makati; tel. 8107245 or 0908-3537885.
