Valerie Weigmann was crowned Miss World Philippines recently. She was also named Miss Figlia during the beauty contest. The model turned television host succeeded Megan Young, the first Filipino woman to win Miss World.

Weigmann will compete in the 64th Miss World in London on Dec. 14. She’s reportedly an early favorite in the contest.

Beauty with a purpose

Looking back on why she should win the Miss World Philippines title, Weigmann said, “I believe in the importance of empathy and compassion, because… if all of us can come together and work as one, we can all be advocates of change… I believe it is truly in giving that makes us beautiful.”

Figlia, the contest’s official shoe sponsor, and CQGlobal Quest Inc., the firm behind Miss World Philippines, uphold the same value of “beauty with a purpose” in their partnership.

Miss World Philippines national director Cory Quirino said, “We are of one mind when it comes to glamour and beauty. The Figlia shoes are especially designed for Miss World Philippines.”

Joey V. Enriquez, president of Charter International, Inc., maker of Figlia, emphasized the versatility and growth of the brand. Several lines have been introduced, catering to every woman: high heels for the fashionista; rubber shoes for the sports-minded; and regular neutral flats for those who prefer casual comfort.
