This Saturday, Dec. 13, Backyard Grill at the Park, a project of Hinge Inquirer Publications’ Southern Living and Inquirer RED, returns to Makati.

This time, Backyard Grill at the Park is bigger than ever, with nine participating food partners. To be held at Urdaneta Park in Urdaneta Village, Makati City, this cookout for a cause encourages families and friends to come together for a fun meal before the holiday season ends.

With 30 percent of the day’s profits going directly to charity, it’s a holiday experience with a giving spirit.

Like the previous ones held in Dasmariñas Village and Ayala Alabang, the grill enables kids and the kids at heart to enjoy activity sheets and DIY pinwheel kits, as well as learn ukulele courtesy of Ukulele Philippines.

Sing your hearts out as Reese and Vica and Carlo Lava serenade everyone throughout the night.

The last grilling of the year will have more concessionaires from all over the metro. But as always, the restaurants all have chosen charities to give back to.

Satiate your sandwich cravings with Bun Appetit’s seafood buns and Pepi Cubano’s Cuban sandwiches, with sales benefiting FutKal and Ang Bandang Pinoy Co-op, respectively.

Representing Kapitolyo will be Gostoso Piri Piri with its Portuguese barbecue and piri piri chicken, all for the Holy Family Church of Kapitolyo Pasig’s Social Service Ministry; as well as Locavore with its modern Filipino dishes for Samaritan’s Place.

The south’s Butamaru will serve its much talked-about ramen in support of World Vision, while Holy Carabao Holistic Farms will set up an organic juice and coffee bar for Sangkatigan for the children and victims of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” in Tacloban City.

End the picnic with some Kalookies cookies, Bucky’s not-brownies and Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, for the benefit of their charities Laura Vicuna Foundation, White Cross Orphanage, and Museo Pambata Foundation Inc., respectively.

Backyard Grill at the Park is happening at the Urdaneta Park, Cruzadas Street corner Urdaneta Avenue, Urdaneta Village, Makati, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. This event is made possible by Globe Tattoo Platinum, Alveo Land Corp., Avida Land, Hinge Inquirer Publications, Inquirer RED Magazine, Southern Living and HIP Events.
