Recycle old Christmas decor or reuse typhoon debris | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

t1217diy_1Christmas is less than 10 days away but there’s still time to come up with your most elegant and interesting Christmas setting yet.

What’s wonderful about this idea is that it uses old Christmas ornaments and remnants of nature’s fury, like debris from the last typhoon.

Tree trunk plate chargers

Having the trunk or thick branches sawed into one-inch thick pieces make a great backdrop to your Christmas plate as shown in the photos.

If you have the time or skill, cut them yourself or bring it to a local sash factory for a machine-cut finish.

You may want to give it a good buffing with sandpaper to get rid of of the roughness and the snags.

You will still get the rustic look which makes it a perfect foil to the perfect shape of your dinner plate.

Napkin rings

Don’t throw your old ornaments just yet. They may be the perfect partner to liven up an otherwise plain napkin holder.

For this project, we used our lucite napkin holders from Rustan’s and simply tied up our old Christmas tree ornament, and voila!
