Send in the troops

For Johann Manas, designing is something straightforward and subtle, yet full of impact. This perhaps best describes his no-nonsense collection for Human.

He takes inspiration from Andy Warhol’s “Polaroids”—paratroopers, metallics and Tokyo street fashion are fused to create a collection of graphic tees, shirts and shorts in subdued colors of black, grays, blues and whites. They’re non-intimidating and easy to mix and match.

Here are some of the looks we like from the JMan x Human collection.

Touchdown

Seen in most of his collections are the paratrooper graphic tees—a subtle reference to the independent designer from Tokyo dropping into Manila’s fashion scene.

Foil party

Another signature element in Manas’ collection is the incorporation of foil prints inspired by Warhol’s “Polaroids.” Note the comfortable drop-shoulder cut of the graphic tees.

Hints of blue

The JMan “Paratrooper” graphic tee, with its unique fit, is definitely a must-have.

Always a classic

One can never have enough of collared shirts; there’s always room for another, especially this shirt with the signature “Paratrooper” prints with side pocket.

Not your usual shirt

Manas also experiments by combining different materials. This shirt with all-original silver foil print is accentuated with mesh.
