Artist-activist Caress Banson uses her abstraction practice to tackle social issues like urban hunger.
Galleria Nicolas partners with Banson for the benefit of Feeding Metro Manila, in the exhibition, “The Color of Life.”
Color is the dominant abstracted component of the exhibition, with Banson using geometric patterns and bold swaths of brushwork to convey a lively and dynamic impression. Drawing on the traditions of Bauhaus, Paul Klee, and even abstract-expressionist Mark Rothko, she imbues her canvases with a sense of buoyancy, springing each abstracted object alive with her fantastic eye for detail.
“The Color of Life” runs Dec. 22 – Jan. 5, 2015 at Galleria Nicolas, 3/F Art Space in Glorietta 4, Ayala Center, Makati City. Tel. 6250273. Log in www.gallerianicolas.com or e-mail info@gallerianicolas.com.
