Reader disputes my views on ‘no heaven and hell’ | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Your mantra for the week:

“I am a miracle worker creating miracles in my life and in other people’s lives.”

IT’S A NEW YEAR, a new beginning. It’s a new you. The past is over and you’re not like what you used to be.

The new you has resolved to accomplish great things in the universe. The new you has forgiven and released the past.

You are grateful for all those who touched your life in the past and for those who are still in your life.

The new you is excited—not only for this year but the coming years. The new you can dream and this dream is leading you to the perfect manifestation of all your desires. Your dream is your guide to your future.

The new you is healed in mind, body and affairs—mentally, emotionally, physically and financially. The new you has newfound wisdom and you are able to handle all events, circumstances with equanimity and serenity.

The past is gone and forgotten. You are not the same person that you were yesterday, for you are starting anew. There is now a greater understanding of that power within you, the God within, the Christ within. It is your guide, your director, your counselor, all that is wonderful in your life—all that brings peace in your universe.

The new you heals itself in whatever level it knows how. It is always Divinely Directed to the right solution, the right cure, the ultimate healing.

It no longer matters what people say of you. What matters most is what you think of yourself, say of yourself, your self-talk, how you label yourself many times. These are truly important, for they determine the quality of your life.

Say to yourself now: “I am wonderful. I live an abundant life. I see good everywhere for there is only God. I look at another human being and realize that I am one with him/her— each traveling his/her own path, each desiring to grow in his/her own way, each desiring to come Home…”

You are now lifting yourself above yourself and you are watching you. You are in awe at what you are observing, for you are now seeing beyond appearances. You are beholding your soul, your beautiful soul. It is that which realizes that you’re both man and God.

Yes, all your frailties and true power can now be totally seen in perspective; with all your human weaknesses, you are still led to the awesome discovery of your true Identity.

You are now listening to the heartbeat of the Universe. Your heart beats with it in perfect rhythm. You’re entering a new life—a life of peace, a life of prosperity, a life of love and joy, for your light shines so brightly that truly, wherever you go, people are reminded of their own goodness.

The everlasting arms of the universe are enfolding you now—letting you know how truly loved you are, deserving of all that is wonderful in life.

The universe is urging you to forgive yourself of all that you think are unforgivable. You were doing your very best. And in the light of what you knew, that was all that you could do.

But within you is the capacity to do great things, to reach out, to assist and to succeed in all your endeavors. All that matters now is the realization that God within loves you and that you’re taken care of all the days of your Eternal life.

Delightful duo

I am so happy about my being a member of the Makati Garden Club (MGC) It is a place where the greens that are served come directly from the garden that has been created at the back of the café—where a variety of herbs, condiment plants and vegetables of all kinds are grown.

Last Friday, Sandra Jocson, MGC food committee chair, presented Diomedes Saraza performing on the violin and his son Michael on the keyboards. The duo delighted us with music from their limitless repertoire and even accommodated all requests from guests.

Diomedes is truly magical in the violin. His wife and manager Aida proudly told us that one of their sons is graduating from Juilliard School of Music in a year or two.

Sandra is also planning a book launch of poetry and graphic arts by Ibrahim Hussein as inspired by Julie Lingan’s poetry aptly called “Steal Me a Paradise.” Watch out for further announcements.

Enjoying the dinner and fabulous music were MSD Philippines president and managing director Dr. Beaver Tamesis; Angela Raymundo-Soriano who is most excited about the coming wedding of her daughter Sabrina to David Sy in March; Spanish attaché Pardo Garcia; Jose Mari Chan and lovely wife Mary Ann.

The Sarazas will be playing at the MGC café every Friday of January (MGC seafood month) and February (steak month).

Proceeds will finance MGC’s advocacy of granting scholarships to deserving students.

Joseph Assad’s Way

I finally had dinner at the popular One Way Restaurant on Salcedo Street, Legaspi Village and met honorary Lebanese consul Joseph Assad and his wife Vicky.

Joseph, a co-owner of One Way, is usually on hand to welcome guests, take their pictures to hang them on the restaurant’s walls. So far he has taken 2,100 photos since One Way opened in March last year.

That will give you an idea how popular this dining place is. Its specialties are Pasta Aligue Tournedos Rossini, Pamplona Pizza, and Surfer Joe Burgers. There is only one way of putting it—they are a must try! Just like having to watch the film “Bonifacio” if you have not seen it yet.

‘Birkin’ at the wrong tree

Once upon a time there was a separated lady who lived in with an assistant of a taipan. But to my mind she would have preferred the taipan himself, considering her very expensive taste besides her illusions of grandeur.

She is frequently seen with a bodyguard who carries her Birkin bag while he shades her from the sun. This brings back to mind the image of former Supreme Court chief justice Enrique Fernando doing the same thing for the literally better half of the conjugal dictatorship, Imelda Marcos.

This separated lady, like many mountain climbers, think that when they own Birkin bags, they have truly “arrived.” As usual they are “birkin” at the wrong tree.

‘Curious thing’

A reader’s feedback:

“The curious thing about George Sison is his insistence on Pope John Paul II’s supposed declaration that ‘there is no hell and there is no devil.’

“I looked for the original document, and found no evidence of Mr. Sison’s claim. What I found was his misleading interpretation—unless, of course, he believes that the joyful understanding of the Pope’s document by non-Catholic reporters should be the basis on which to buttress his own version of New Age ‘religion.’”

My reply:

Dear reader,

Thank you for your comments. This has given me an opportunity to clarify my position regarding this matter.

The original document on Saint John Paul’s edict that you have been looking for but could not find can be traced in General Audience dated July 28, 1999. This can be verified online through this link: www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/audiences/1999/documents/hf_jp-ii_aud_28071999_en.html

Furthermore, Fr. Carlos Ronquillo of the Redemptorist Formation, Baclaran Church, who has a blurb in my best-selling book, “A Miracle Awaits You,” was present during the General Audience. Surely he cannot be classified as a non-Catholic reporter which you claim is my basis to buttress my own version of a New Age religion.

Please take note, I am not promoting a New Age religion for the simple reason that I do not believe in organized religions. One’s relationship with God is purely personal. People who come to my temple (not a structure, but the two sides of your head) are there for fellowship and nothing else.

We have no credos and dogmas. We have no prohibitions, only reminders that what you sow in your mind and heart, you will reap in experience.

New Year’s message

I sent my friends this New Year’s message and I would like to convey the same to all readers of this column:

In 2015, let us delete envy, greed, resentment, past hurts from the inbox of our hearts; save and forward gratitude, forgiveness, thank yous, unlimited words of affection and encouragement and lots of love.

Then have a jubilant January

a fulfilling February

a memorable March

an astonishing April

a magnificent May

a joyous June

a juicy July

an awesome August

a superlative September

an opulent October

a no-holds-barred November

and a delightful December.
