A two-day “creativity conference” at the Ateneo de Manila promises to debunk a persistent myth. “Pulp,” set for January 30 to 31 at the university’s Loyola Heights campus, is a series of interactive talks and workshops about creative minds thriving in not necessarily “artistic” lines of work. Featured activities include how-to sessions with Shu Uemura on style and cosmetics and an inside look at innovations shaping local basketball with management consultant Coach Chot Reyes, one of the country’s winningest coaches.
“We see ‘Pulp’ as an effective avenue to debunk the myth that artistic industries have a monopoly over creativity,” said Ateneo Collegiate Society of Advertising president Carmela Nery. “It is our purpose [in CoSA] to champion creativity and innovation.”
“Pulp” gathers trailblazers and practitioners from fields as varied as restaurant entrepreneurship and journalism, each one ready to share how “being creative” helped them in their line of work. The line-up includes Bea and Suzy from Magic 89.9, A-Team, Sienna Olaso from TV5, Coldstone, The Girl and the Bull, Sonja’s Cupcakes, David Ong of the Curator and EDSA BDG, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Kara Chung, Flyart, and Wheninmanila.com.
University President Father Jett Villarin SJ will also speak, as will journalists Kristine Sabillo and Matikas Santos from INQUIRER.net, a media partner of “Pulp.” Sabillo and Santos will discuss “disruptive writing” and how to write “fast content.”
