Our best president, so far

Your mantra for the week:
“The God within is healing me now in all aspects of my life.”

Heaven is your mind at peace. Your mind at peace is the way to bring heaven on earth.

Today I share 11 ways of bringing peace that passes all understanding.

The first step is to accept that God is within you and not “up there” as most religions have taught. Accepting this is the greatest empowerment tool that exists. This should be easy to accept because God is everywhere, even if the “up there” concept of a separate God persists.

God is synonymous with good, and putting God up there in an unreachable place separates you from your good. Thus begins all lack and limitation.

Making amends

The second way is to stop calling yourself a “sinner.” You may have made wrong choices and mistakes but they do not make you a bad person. Even when you make wrong choices, you can always choose again.

When you make a mistake, there is always a way of making amends. The religious implication of sinner is that you are not worthy of God’s love when God is non-judgmental and will never condemn you as someone evil.

Let me underscore that believing yourself a sinner will leave you psychologically open to bad luck.

The third way is to let go of the ego and stop believing you are always right and that others are wrong. When you let go of your ego, other people’s differing opinions will not bother you because what they think is now none of your business.

When you start loving yourself because you are made in the image and likeness of God,   you will fully comprehend that YOU ARE GOD AS YOU—which is the fourth way of gaining peace of mind.

The fifth is to get rid of all your what-if’s (“eh kung…”) and get rid of your buts (“baka…”) which are all imaginary fears that are self-imposed and which ultimately prevent you from moving forward toward all the blessings the universe has in store for you.

The sixth is to use your mantra beads at least three times a day to create positive thought patterns in your subconscious mind. They are also excellent mood changers, instruments for self-uplifting and a super magnet for answered prayers.

Unlike the rosary, the beads used in our mantras are directly connected to our desires and aspirations.

Prospering others

The seventh way is to focus your attention on prospering others. When you wake up in the morning after meditating, contemplating, praying or using your mantra beads, ask yourself: Who can I prosper today? And do so!

When you can include those you do not particularly like, this act is truly magical.

Eight, known as the number of regeneration, is best put to use by being of service to others. Whenever I receive letters from people who find it difficult to get a job, I suggest that they be of service to others in any way, shape or form and, voila, there are jobs waiting for them.

Visualize your desires often by imagining yourself already having them; and be sure to act the way you would behave once you demonstrate your goals. This is the ninth way.

Ten is the magic number of increase or tithing, which Catherine Ponder, world-renowned author of “Prosperity and Healing,” calls the prosperity secret of the ages.

Voluntary tithing

“Tithing is giving 10 percent of your income to a spiritual organization or an individual in spiritual work,” Catherine says, adding that if you do not give voluntarily your financial resources, you can expect that body ailments, financial entanglements, human relation problems and general confusion in your affairs will follow.

Please note that although donations, gifts and helping others financially are wonderful, they are not part of your tithes which must be regular and voluntary.

Remember that tithing is a way of connecting you to the Source of all blessings.

This may come as a shock to many, but every thought and feeling, whether positive or negative, is actually a prayer to a God that always says yes, as indicated in Isaiah 45:7—“I form the light and create darkness. I make peace and create evil. I, the Lord, do all these things.” Eleven is truly a cosmic number.

P-Noy a hero, too

Today is the birthday of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III. I consider this day special because it is also the date of the birth of Don Claro M. Recto, whom I consider a personal hero. Therefore, this day has given me two heroes—one from the past and another from the present.

They may not have given up their lives for the country like the SAF 44 and Ninoy Aquino, but P-Noy and Recto are heroes just the same.

I am saying this despite all the tirades that President Aquino is receiving from many sectors. I sincerely believe every human being is a potential messenger of God by virtue of the good he/she is doing.

Archbishop Ramon Arguelles seems to have forgotten the principle of separation of Church and State as provided in the constitution. Furthermore, churchmen do not even pay taxes; in my book, they should not even be allowed to vote, much less make a call for a head of state to resign.

Yet they go as far as to suggest a transformational government and disguise their call for revolution by cushioning it with a caution that “it should be nonviolent.”

This group of people put on a holier-than-thou attitude when they have members who sexually abuse children. They also have fornicators who have children and hidden families.

Their duty is to uplift their flock and not be jurors on who should be running the country.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is not just about the Mamasapano incident but a form of vengeance against P-Noy’s efforts to enact the RH bill.

Loida’s testimonial

I am one with Loida Nicolas-Lewis in praising President Aquino for transforming the Philippines from the sick man of Asia to a potential tiger economy, especially now that three global credit-rating agencies have included the country in lists of where-to-invest.

This has happened only during the Aquino administration. These are facts that critics of the President tend to ignore.

I am not saying that P-Noy’s presidency is perfect, but what he has done for the country has not yet been achieved by any other past president.

The birthday book

Astrologers Goldschneider and Elffers say that people born on the 8th of February “have highly developed projective abilities. They are sometimes able to form a conception of how a situation should be in their heads and bring that situation into reality, not by physically creating it but by the power of suggestion, that is, visualizing their wishes and somehow guiding others in that direction.”

This brings to mind P-Noy’s daang matuwid and Recto’s Rizal law.

Mr. President, I would like to send you my birthday greetings through this column. God has blessed the Philippines with you. Thank you for having built a better Philippines.

Today is the start of your first cycle of the seven 52-day cycles which everyone goes through every year. This initial cycle promises you wonderful surprises, expected and unexpected blessings in all areas of your life.

Fookien Times at 79

Grace Glory Go and son Vernon celebrated the 79th year of the Fookien Times Yearbook by sending out invitations to a few hundred guests to come to cocktails at the Rigodon Ballroom of the Manila Peninsula.

The very warm and sociable Grace glowed in her mint-green ensemble as she welcomed her guests from the most prominent  sectors of society.

I was elated to see and talk with the still beauteous Susan Roces, now better known as the mother of Sen. Grace Poe.

I have known Susan since her Sampaguita days, when she and Amalia Fuentes were the contenders for No. 1 in beauty and talent.

Truly, she would have made a beautiful First Lady had FPJ not been “Garci-ed” in his quest for the presidency.

Well, she might just be the mother of a president in the near future.

Congratulations, Grace, for a most successful 79th Fookien Times Yearbook. Let there be more!

Question of the week

Why was Malaysian terrorist Marwan killed in Mamasapano, just when Malaysia was about to host the negotiation of the Bangsamoro Basic Law conference? Doon nagka-Malaysia!
