The king size bed practically fills the entire room. You have to inch your way around the foot of the bed—careful now, or you’ll hit the wall-mounted flat screen TV—to get to the bathroom. Once you climb onto the bed, however, it’s like you are on an island of fluffy pillows and clean white sheets.
That’s the impression you get when you book a room with a king-size bed at the newly opened Go Hotels Ortigas Center. Depending on how early you book, rooms can go for as low as P2,388 or less.
The chain is marketed as a budget hotel chain, but this is the first time they’ve included rooms with beds that can comfortably fit four people—or maybe a couple and their two young children.
No compromise
“We are known as a no-frills hotel but we don’t compromise on comfort,” Elizabeth Gregorio, general manager of Robinsons Hotels and Resorts said in a statement.
The term used is “essential-service hospitality,” which consists of a room with double hot showers, towels and single use packets of soap and shampoo, free WiFi, cable TV and a safety deposit box. You have to pay extra or provide for everything else: drinking water, a toothbrush and toothpaste, facial wash or an extra towel.
Unlike a traditional hotel with meeting rooms or function halls, each floor has social spaces where guests can converge. Rooms for persons with disabilities are located on the second floor.
Their back-supporting Windsor beds, however, are something else. They are outfitted with high-thread count sheets and duvets, and topped with chiropractic and fiber-fill pillows to ensure the best sleep.
There are plans to include more rooms with king-sized beds at other Go Hotels nationwide. In the meantime, try booking one at the Ortigas
Center branch.
