MANILA, Philippines—A limited edition Filipina Barbie doll has been featured in a new glamour collection of the beloved doll brand.
The doll, named “Mutya,” was designed by Filipino designer Carlyle Nuera.
Mutya is wearing a terno with designs inspired by the Philippine flag and the Sampaguita flower.
“She wears a long gown under a sheer overdress printed with a tribal motif and a sun icon from the Philippine flag. Further embellished with an embroidered floral design of the Philippines’ national flower, the Sampaguita, the overdress is a lovely tribute. Accessories include golden-tone earrings, necklace, bracelet and a golden lace fabric fan,” said the description of the doll in the official Mattel website.
Mutya is featured in Barbie’s “Global Glamour” collection, along with the Tribal Beauty doll and the Venetian Muse doll.
Only 4,400 Mutya dolls will be sold.
This marks the third time that Mattel will produce a Filipina Barbie doll. AJH
