T0316robin_feat12_1MANILA, Philippines—Having a cough is as natural as natural can be: It may not be deadly, but sure is a nuisance to the normal cycle of everybody’s daily life.

And a natural remedy is the lagundi plant which village herbal doctors in the Philippines use to treat patients since time immemorial.

The organic healing heritage is reflected in Ascof Lagundi.

Pascual Laboratories, which produces Ascof Lagundi, sticks to the natural philosophy by having its own lagundi farm in Nueva Ecija.

It employs a highly advanced farming and production process to cultivate lagundi and  utilize the plant for its Ascof Lagundi.

The plant’s manufacturing process is GMP-certified, that is,  “good manufacturing practice.”

Lagundi cough medicine has been scientifically validated in several clinical trials conducted by the National Integrated Research Program on Medicinal Plants. This research was funded by the Department of Science and Technology under the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.

Actor Robin Padilla, the official endorser of Ascof Lagundi, took members of the press recently to a tour of the Ascof Lagundi farm in Nueva Ecija. He said that he accepted the commission to be the product’s official endorser because he advocated organic healing.

Talking mainly in Filipino, Padilla said many over-the-counter synthetic drugs may have a bad effect on the liver.

He added that he had a “moral obligation” and a duty to “pay it forward” to promote “organic medicine,” which has no deleterious side effects.

Ayne Rili, brand manager of Ascof Lagundi, agreed.

“We have a moral obligation to share this to everyone because the benefits are good,” she said.

Rili said it was Pascual Laboratories’ advocacy “to develop all-natural products because we have many plants in the country with medicinal properties.”
