Fashion meets The Force

Darth Vader hoodies, Stormtrooper shirts, C-3PO shifts—fashion meets The Force in Folded & Hung’s “StarWars” collection.

For men, there are sporty shirts featuring beloved characters Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Yoda. And there are black-and-white items depicting the “dark side”—jackets, polo shirts, pullovers printed with the iconic Darth Vader designs.

Men, according to Folded & Hung senior marketing manager Eric Galos, make up the majority of the brand’s clientele, which are mostly students and young professionals who are looking for stylish basics.

For women, color and details can be found in pieces such as raglan tops with studs, dolman blouses, dresses with mesh sleeves, bomber jackets, and a few bottoms such as jogger pants and printed leggings.

The “Star Wars” renderings on the collection are edgy but not loud, with some so subtle that only true-blue “Star Wars” fans would notice them. A team of Filipino designers came up with these designs, which had to be approved by Disney International, the “Star Wars” franchise holder.

“Disney had to approve the look, including the setup of the event launch in SM North Edsa, even the hashtag #starwarsxfoldedandhung,” Galos added. Establishing the “Star Wars” stamp on a local fashion brand is a big thing for Folded & Hung, which is planning to break into the global market soon.

As Ronald Pineda, Folded & Hung president, said: “‘Star Wars’ has a following from people of all ages, from all over the world; it will help Folded & Hung to be known as a source of comfy but fashionable clothes.”

Celebrities Angel Locsin, Enrique Gil and Elmo Magalona are among Folded & Hung’s endorsers.
